How to Play!

Pokémon Rose is a rom hack of Pokémon FireRed. Playing this game requires an emulator for GBA roms. I recommend using VisualBoy Advance (VBA). To play Pokémon Rose, you will need:

1. Pokémon Rose IPS patch (available here)
2. A clean Pokémon FireRed rom (Don’t ask me where to get one!)
3. A patching utility (I recommend using ips XP, available here)
4. An emulator for GBA roms (I recommend VBA, available here)

The ips XP utility.

The ips XP utility.

Using ips XP is very simple! First, click “Select file to patch” to select your Pokémon FireRed rom (you might have to select “All files” in the Files of type drop-down menu when using this program). Then, click on “Ips Patch to use” to select the patch you downloaded (again, you may have to select “All files” in the Files of type drop-down menu for this). Finally, click on “Apply Patch to file.” Congratulations! Now you have a working copy of Pokémon Rose to play.

To play Pokémon Rose, you will need a GBA emulator. There are a couple out there that you could use, but I recommend using VisualBoy Advance (VBA) as it is what I use to test the game and know works well. When using VBA, make sure to configure your save settings as follows: Options>Emulator>Save Type>Flash 128K. This is the type of save setting used by the Pokémon games’ in-game save system, so you’ll want to make sure it’s set if you plan on saving your game through regular, in-game saves.

Make sure your save settings are properly configured.

And that’s all there is to it! If you continue to have any problems with your game, feel free to leave a comment or email me at centiq.rose@gmail.com.

Have fun playing!
